Timber Bridges | 54ft Footbridge | Evolution of the Cross Section | Wheel Bridge
Wheel Bridge:
A new bridge suitable for wheelchair users to fit into an historic Industrial landscape owned by the National Trust. The work also included repair work to the revetments of the leat; no concrete was used in the project.
The shape of the bridge was inspired by the principal user group (wheelchair users) and the knowledge that a pit wheel used to exist 40m away from the bridge.
Design: Matt Robinson
Built 2006: Workshop of Matt Robinson, lead Carpenter Stuart Carter
